what is a virtual tour?

A virtual tour is a simulation of an existing location. Viewers are able to walk through the space as if they were really in the location.

how long does it take to create a virtual tour?

The time it takes to create a virtual tour depends on the size of a space. A 1 -3 room space normally takes 2 hours to create.

who owns the virtual tour?

The virtual tour is hosted on the Matterport platform. The tour is accessible at an annual fee of $60.

what are Mattertags?

Mattertags are the little circles in the virtual tour. The Mattertags are used to communicate additional information about the space. which can be done by adding photography, videos, text, or links.

How does the public access the virtual tour?

Viewers can access the virtual tour from your website which would be showcased on your organization's website.

are there additional items you can add to the virtual tour?

We can create worksheets and scavenger hunts that go along with the virtual tour and make the virtual tour a learning tool.

What makes a virtual tour special?

A virtual tour allows you to keep your establishment open 24 hours 7 Days a week. Also, there are certain things that a “virtual” visitor can do that an in-person can't. For example, an in-person can't climb on the ladder truck and view down the center of the aerial ladder where a “virtual” visitor can.

How do I get my space prepared for a virtual tour?

Before recording please make sure the space is clean and all proprietary information is covered. Also once recording starts nothing in the space can move so if recording an apparatus bay the ideal time is when calls are normally at their lowest volume.

what are some benefits of the virtual tour?

Virtual tours are not only a great community educational tool but also a wonderful training tool for recruitment. For example, Mattertags can be utilized as a part of new firefighter education for equipment location/identification (Engine 2)
